Common delivery models

• A do-it-yourself site builder

  You choose the platform, template, copy, images, and settings. Check the platform's current subscription, transaction, domain, storage, and support terms directly before deciding.

• A freelancer

  One person may handle design and development. Ask who owns the accounts, what happens after launch, how support is requested, and what happens if that person becomes unavailable.

• A local one-person shop

  A small local provider may combine discovery, design, build, and support. Compare the written response target, care scope, recurring fee, ownership, and cancellation terms rather than assuming locality guarantees service.

• A full agency

  An agency may assign specialized roles and a formal delivery process. That can fit a complex project; ask which roles your job actually needs, who makes decisions, and what ongoing service is included.

Recurring costs to compare

• Domain registration and renewal: confirm the registered holder, renewal owner, price, and transfer path.
• Hosting and delivery: confirm what keeps the site reachable, how usage affects cost, and who owns the account.
• TLS and security maintenance: confirm what is configured, monitored, updated, and excluded rather than assuming a padlock proves the whole service is secure.
• Content changes and support: confirm whether you have your own login, what the provider changes, the response target, and what creates a separate quote.
